Practical
freight guide
Contact Clever Couriers when an online quote cannot describe the movement, you need help with an account or booking, or a shipment requires investigation. The fastest response starts with the right reference and enough detail to understand the job.
Call 0416 682 392 or email enquiries@clevercouriers.com.au. For a new shipment, you can also use the tailored freight quote form.
Choose the right starting point
Use the online account to compare eligible services for straightforward, fully packed freight. Use the tailored quote form for long, oversized, fragile, multi-pallet, machinery, international or access-sensitive jobs. Contact support for an existing booking, collection, tracking or delivery issue.
A general message such as “How much to send a pallet?” usually requires another round of questions. Supplying the completed load and route information lets us assess the request more efficiently.
For a new freight quote
Include the origin and destination suburbs and postcodes, then identify whether each address is a residence, warehouse, shop, depot, construction site or another facility. State the number of cartons, pallets, crates or other handling units.
For every piece, provide final packed length, width, height and gross weight. Add a specific description of the contents, the ready date and the required delivery timing. Photographs are useful for irregular, fragile, long or heavy freight.
Tell us about loading and access
Confirm whether a forklift or loading dock is available at collection and delivery. If not, explain whether the load is on a stable pallet or skid and may need tailgate handling. Include street width, gates, slopes, overhead restrictions, appointment rules and site operating hours where relevant.
Standard freight service usually ends at a safe, accessible handover point. If the job needs stairs, inside placement, unpacking, installation, a crane, two-person handling or special site compliance, declare that task rather than assuming it is included.
For long, oversized or heavy freight
Send the maximum outside dimensions, verified weight and several clear photographs. Describe the skid, crate or restraint and identify lifting points, centre-of-gravity concerns and available equipment. True over-dimensional or over-mass transport may need specialist review.
Do not divide a long item’s length across shorter fields or quote only the product body. End caps, bases, frames and projecting parts are part of the transport dimensions.
For fragile or sensitive goods
Explain what the product is vulnerable to: impact, vibration, scratching, bending, moisture, temperature or orientation. Describe the outer packaging, internal cushioning and restraint. State the value and whether the item is replaceable.
Not every carrier accepts glass, antiques, art, high-value electronics or irreplaceable items. A fragile label does not create specialist handling, so acceptance and service suitability must be checked.
For international freight
Include the origin and destination countries and postcodes, package details, exact commodity description, quantity, value, country of origin and whether the movement is an import or export. State the commercial purpose and any known deadline.
Customs clearance can require a commercial invoice and additional documents. Duties, taxes, permits and destination controls depend on the goods and route. Dangerous goods must be classified and approved before booking.
For an existing booking
Provide the Clever Couriers booking reference and carrier consignment or tracking number if available. Explain whether the question concerns collection, an address change, tracking, a delivery attempt, proof of delivery or an invoice.
Changes are not effective until confirmed. A message requesting a new address, later pickup or extra piece does not automatically update a carrier booking, and additional costs or service restrictions can apply.
For tracking support
Send the last visible tracking event, including its date and location, plus the expected stage of the journey. Confirm the sender, receiver, piece count and current receiver telephone number. Tell us what checks have already been completed.
Tracking is generally event-based rather than continuous GPS. A linehaul gap can be normal, but a missed collection, inconsistent route, partial delivery or unresolved exception should be raised with the references attached.
For damage or loss concerns
Notify Clever Couriers promptly and preserve the goods, all packaging and labels. Take clear photographs of the outer package before unpacking, internal protection, damage and the full item. Keep invoices, serial numbers and evidence of pre-dispatch condition.
Do not discard or repair the item until instructed if a claim may be lodged. Time limits, evidence requirements, exclusions and packaging obligations apply. FreightSafe is limited protection only and is not comprehensive transit insurance.
Urgent freight requests
Place “urgent” at the beginning of the subject and provide the freight-ready time, firm deadline and consequence of delay. Explain whether the timing is flexible within the day or tied to a production, flight, event or site window.
An urgent enquiry does not guarantee same-day collection or delivery. Availability depends on the lane, freight profile, collection cut-off, equipment and carrier capacity. Wait for written booking confirmation before promising the movement internally.
Account and invoice questions
For account access, include the business name and the email address associated with the account. For an invoice question, include the invoice and booking references and identify the charge or shipment you want reviewed.
Do not email passwords, payment-card details or unnecessary identity documents. We will ask for appropriate verification if an account change involves sensitive information.
What happens after you contact us
The team will route the enquiry to the relevant quote, booking, tracking or account workflow. We may ask for missing measurements, photographs, site access or documentation before an eligible option or next action can be confirmed.
Clear information lets us respond with something useful: a comparable service, a packaging or access question, a tracking investigation or a defined next step. Start with the reference if the freight already exists; start with the physical load if it does not.
