Match the trailer to the load
Enclosed or curtain-sided equipment may suit palletised and weather-sensitive general freight. A flat-top or other specialist trailer may be required for long, irregular or mechanically loaded items. The exact choice depends on dimensions, restraint points, weather exposure and site equipment.
Do not request a trailer by name without explaining the freight and loading method. A carrier needs to confirm safe compatibility.
Brisbane collection planning
State the actual suburb, premises type, loading entrance and ready day. Warehouses around Brisbane and Logan, port-related sites, the Gold Coast, regional Queensland and construction projects create different access.
Have all freight staged and labelled. If several suppliers are contributing, consolidate and check the complete load before the booked vehicle arrives.
Prepare for distance and climate variation
Freight can encounter humidity, heat, dry conditions and temperature changes across the route. Use packaging and restraint that retain strength. Keep moisture-sensitive goods enclosed and prevent condensation or trapped water from weakening cartons and labels.
Products needing a defined temperature range require a specialist controlled service. Ordinary tautliner or general freight should not be presented as cold chain.
Industrial and unconventional freight
Secure equipment to a skid or crate, protect controls and give approved lifting points. Long fabricated products need adequate support and restraint along their length. Declare overhang, centre of gravity and whether crane or side loading is required.
Dangerous goods, batteries, chemicals and fuel residue must be identified before booking.
WA biosecurity and cleanliness
Check current Western Australian requirements for plant material, food, timber, soil-contaminated machinery and other controlled goods. Clean outdoor and earthmoving equipment where required and provide truthful commodity documents.

Perth and regional WA delivery
Use the final destination rather than stopping the quote at Perth. Freight for the Pilbara, Goldfields, South West or another region may require an additional scheduled leg and different site access.
Mine, construction and distribution sites may require inductions, PPE, appointments or approved vehicles. Supply those requirements before dispatch.
Time zones and route communication
Queensland and Western Australia use different local times. State the city, date and local time for collection cut-offs and delivery appointments. Avoid vague instructions such as “call in the afternoon”.
Plan scheduled handovers explicitly
A long road movement may involve a trailer change, depot transfer or regional carrier. Each handover increases the importance of durable labels and a complete piece list. The shipper should know whether freight is travelling as loose cartons, one pallet or several separately labelled units. If a pallet is rebuilt during consolidation, its final dimensions and restraint must be checked before the quote is confirmed.
Separate linehaul arrival from customer readiness
Do not book installation crews or promise retail availability solely from an estimated Perth linehaul arrival. Allow time for last-mile delivery, unloading, counting and inspection. If the receiver has a fixed mobilisation or shutdown date, give Clever Couriers that date during quoting so the chosen service can be evaluated honestly.
Track the complete consignment
Keep the Clever Couriers reference, carrier number, photographs and piece list. Tracking events are operational milestones and may be widely spaced. If an exception occurs, provide the last event and correct contacts at both ends.
